I can't give enough praise for a fellow who is mellow with a well-turned phrase

Sometimes it ain't what they say, it's how they say it. It ain't the pay, it's how they pay it, it ain't the hand they're dealt, it's how they play it and it ain't the law they make, it's how well they obey it.

WISE AS A SERPENT AND HARMLESS AS A DOVE

by Stan C. Countz

Verse 1:
It’s just one bite; you will not die
Close your eyes and like me you’ll be wise
She was deceived and she believed his lies
Since Adam and Eve, we’ve been tryin’ to hide

Verse 2:
Don’t be wise in your own eyes
Don’t believe the serpent’s lies
No need to hide beneath a thin disguise
The seed must die before it can rise

Chorus:
Seek not the wisdom from below
But the wisdom from above
Have the heart of a servant
And serve each other in love
There’s no need to be nervous
No need to push and shove
Be as wise as a serpent
And as harmless as a dove

Repeat Verse 1:
It’s just one bite; you will not die
Close your eyes and like me you’ll be wise
Eve was deceived and she believed his lies
Ever since that time we’ve been tryin’ to hide

Repeat Verse 2:
Don’t be wise in your own eyes
Don’t believe the serpent’s lies
No need to hide beneath a thin disguise
The seed must die before it can rise

Chorus/Outro:
Seek not the wisdom from below
But the wisdom from above
Have the heart of a servant
And serve each other in love
There’s no need to be nervous
No need to push and shove
Be as wise as a serpent
And as harmless as a dove (2x)
